Kierstin Silverman is a graduate from The University of Akron with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. She is currently attending graduate school for a Masters degree and is an administrator for the Jackson Massillon School of Music. Prior to pursuing further education, Kierstin was employed as a middle school music teacher at Constellation Schools Westpark Middle. Previously, she held the Assistant Band Director position for Claymont City Schools in Uhrichsville, Ohio. She did her student teaching at Jackson Local Schools in Massillon, Ohio under the guidance and expertise of Michele Monigold, Amy Sullivan, David Gleason, Joe Carlson, Tyler Carpenter, and Sean Monigold. She has studied horn with Andrew Winter, William Hoyt, Karl Kramer-Johansen, and Margaret Tung. Kierstin has performed in many ensembles including community groups such as the Medina Community Band and Wooster Community Band as well as collegiate ensembles at The University of Akron including Symphonic Band, The University of Akron Symphony Orchestra, Concert Band, Horn Ensemble, Brass Choir, and Ohio’s Price Marching Band.

Kierstin has been teaching brass students for 13 years and is excited to be part of the instructional staff at the Jackson Massillon School of Music!
